Jennie Fellows

Therapeutic Attachment Lead

Jennie Fellows is a Therapeutic Attachment Lead for TouchBase™ and a regional Attachment Lead across Sussex. She practices as both a BACP accredited therapeutic counsellor and a specialist behaviour support worker supporting pupils in the primary phase at risk of exclusion. She is trained in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and has also undertaken a number of short trainings at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education.

As a trained therapist, Jennie always approaches attachment support work from a therapeutic base, which alongside her 15 years of working in education means she brings real depth and understanding to her work with TouchBase™. She began working with young people following post-graduate training in theatre; her first project was a piece about belonging in a special school in South London. She has since worked with a wide range of children and young people on many different drama projects including partnerships with the Young Vic and the National Theatre, as well as working as a creative consultant in a large secondary school for a number of years, alongside pupils and teachers to develop and implement creative interventions to engage vulnerable young people.

As a specialist behaviour support worker, her work includes facilitating 1:1 sessions with pupils, supervision for school staff, the delivery of school-based trainings and contributing to Brighton and Hove’s NQT behaviour training. For TouchBase™, Jennie has carried out extensive developmental trauma assessments and created individual development plans, she has run support groups for Key Adults, contributed to training events and facilitated attachment-building sensory days on Plot 22, TouchBase’s™ therapeutic allotment project. Jennie has co-written the Stressbusters programme on offer to schools. Jennie is also available to work therapeutically with adults with disrupted attachments.

Jennie’s psychodynamic training means that her curiosity about the impact of past experience is at the centre of her work. Drawing on this curiosity, as well as her understanding of developmental psychology, neuroscience and education, she works alongside teachers, teaching assistants, mentors, parents, Educational Psychologists and other professionals to create relational pathways to facilitate adaption and recovery within the school context. Jennie is a committed advocate for children and young people who have experienced relational trauma and loss and has a strong belief in the reparative power of relationship and connection.
